2022 Charles E. Green Star Radio Reporter: Dennis Foley

A noteworthy piece of Dennis Foley’s contest entry for this category included reporting from his work covering the illegal transport of immigrants across Texas Highways — especially the discovery of 53 migrants who perished in a sweltering tractor-trailer in San Antonio in June 2022.

Foley said he wanted to include the context to a larger national audience that these transports happen at a more widespread level than people think.

“People don’t understand that level of context,” he said. “Being able to help provide that context really helps explain the story beyond just the basic facts of what’s going on.”
