2022 Best Investigative Report by a Television Station

The KXAN-TV team received the 2022 Charles E. Green Award for Best Investigative Report by a Television Station for their work on the series, “Still Practicing: Tracking Problem Doctors.”

The series focused on the lack of transparency and accountability for Texas physicians who have troubling medical practice histories.

One of the biggest challenges of this reporting was that the majority of the data reporters were interested in is locked in a national federal databank. KXAN reporter Dalton Huey said he had to cross-reference physicians’ names one at a time with the Texas Medical Board and other state licensing boards. “That was the only way I was able to find the information that I did,” he said.
