It's a situation that is unfolding more than 500 miles away with consequences for East Texans. KETK News traveled down to the Texas-Mexico border to explain: why people are blaming a broken immigration system, how drugs are making it into the hands of East Texans, and how it impacts local law enforcement patrolling our streets. Our crew was given access beyond the wall with U.S. border patrol and witnessed firsthand the crisis unfolding at our nation's doorstep. This is a 5 part series that we produced over several months to show East Texans what was happening at the border. We conducted interviews with border agents, migrants who were apprehended and even drug and human smugglers.
