The evening of July 7, 2016, in Dallas was the deadliest day for American first responders since 9/11. For five years, the full story of how five police officers died defending citizens' right to protest law enforcement couldn't be told because the city was unwilling to follow Texas open records laws. WFAA-TV embarked on a years-long battle on behalf of the public, and won. The result is we now have the video evidence showing heroism, danger and decision-making processes behind one of the worst tragedies in Texas history.
