2022 Silver Showcase Storytelling Award: "White Hats"

The winners of this year’s Silver Showcase Storytelling Award went to Texas Monthly for their podcast series, “White Hats,” which delved into the history of the Texas Rangers around the time of the organization’s 200th year anniversary. The judges for this award believed this was one of the best storytelling endeavors of 2022.

The idea for the show came about as a mash-up of several pitches regarding Tejano and Texas border history, said Texas Monthly’s Patrick Michels.

Michels and Brian Standefer, two recipients of the award-winning team, spoke with the Headliners Foundation’s Mark Morrison to discuss their award-winning coverage.
