Small-town Editor Provides Community Focus

As Managing Editor of the Vernon Daily Record, Daniel Walker presides over a three-person staff, and wears just about every hat available.  He also proves conclusively that intelligence, conscience and journalistic skill are not resources reserved for the newsrooms of big-city dailies.

In the 2016  Headliners Foundation’s  Charles Green Awards competition, Daniel received the Star Opinion Writer of the Year award for his effective and sensitive editorials spotlighting the concerns. challenges and opportunities of this small community (population  11,000), located about 200 miles northwest of Dallas.

As is evident from this interview with Headliners Foundation Chair Mark Morrison, there are ample reasons that Daniel Walker led an impressive field of entries for this award.
