An Evening with Verne Lundquist, 2021

On Monday, November 8, the Headliners Foundation hosted An Evening with Verne Lundquist and Roger Staubach at the Headliners Club in Austin. A full house of supporters, friends and sports fans came together to raise funds for the Verne Lundquist Sports Media Institute, which provides programming, scholarships, online learning and grants to support student journalists interested in pursuing a career in sports media. Master of Ceremonies Ed Clements, KLBJ-AM radio personality, guided everyone through the evening which included remarks from Foundation Board Chair Patti Ohlendorf and Lundquist Institute Chair Mark Morrison; a spotlight on two of the Foundation's Verne Lundquist scholarship recipients, one of whom was in attendance; an introduction by Bob Ballou, Sports Director for KEYE-TV/CBS Austin; and finally, stories from the sidelines from Verne Lundquist and Roger Staubach.

The event raised almost $70,000 for Lundquist Institute programs, and ended with a live auction of two footballs autographed by Verne and Roger.
