The National Weather Service in Brownsville says the Rio Grande Valley is going through its driest spell in history. Experts attribute the problem to the lack of rain, government waste and international bureaucratic turmoil. Several CHANNEL 5 NEWS investigations have uncovered mismanagement of water and resources at places like McAllen’s Town Lake at Firemen’s Park. The lake is not even one year old and it already seeped millions of gallons of water into the ground.

The Running Dry Web page includes photos, a list of cities with water restrictions, and links to several drought-related reports.
