WBAP 820 AM
Recipient of the BEST SPOT NEWS BY A RADIO STATION award in The Charles E. Green Awards (2016)
WBAP 820 AM
Judge’s Comments:
When a gunman ambushed police officers in downtown Dallas, WBAP’s news team did a commendable job of trying to cut through the confusion and chaos as it provided hours of continuous coverage. Without a prompt resolution, the gunman remained a serious threat. WBAP managed to have reporters at multiple locations amid the tumult. Each team member remained calm and reported what they knew or acknowledged what they did not know, a valuable service to listeners during the rampage and in the days of coverage that followed.
