Mose Buchele of KUT-FM presented a very creative use of sounds and exquisite writing and delivery to explain an obscure technical topic -- how the electric grid works and what keeps it, er, humming.
Bill McCloskey
Judge Bio:
Bill McCloskey started in radio news in Philadelphia in 1961, sharpening pencils and changing Teletype ribbons at WIP. After serving as an Army PIO in Vietnam, he returned to Metromedia Radio and was assigned as news director at WASH-FM in Washington, D.C. He moved to the TV side at WTTG in 1972, returned to WASH, then joined The Associated Press Radio Network as assistant managing editor in 1975. Eleven years later he embarked on a public relations career, retiring from BellSouth when it was purchased by AT&T in 2008. He is a former national board member of the Society of Professional Journalists and is on the board of the Sigma Delta Chi scholarship-granting foundation in Washington.
