John W. Fainter, Jr. is a former Texas Secretary of State and Governor of the Headliners Foundation. He serves as President & CEO of the Association of Electric Companies of Texas. Philanthropically, John’s particular interest is higher education, most notably with his alma mater, the University of Texas at Austin. He supports the Headliners Foundation’s college scholarship program and believes that “the training of intelligent young people with high integrity who will work to uphold the historic standards of the media is vital to maintaining our freedoms.”


Nancy Nash Harper is Dealer Principal of Capitol Chevrolet. Her father, Charles Nash, was a longstanding member of the Headliners Club and was instrumental in establishing the Foundation. Nancy supports the organization’s mission to promote excellent, ethical and balanced journalism. In addition to her generosity to the Foundation, her company supports many causes throughout Austin, including the provision of 40 trucks driven in the annual Chuy’s Children Giving to Children Parade.

 

Tish Hall and her late husband, Frank, lived in England for 15 years, where he served as a director of the meat packaging company, Swift & Company. Both of their children were born on British soil. After returning to the States, they purchased Lone Star Foodservice, which is still owned and operated by their son. Tish has been involved for decades with the Helping Hand Home for Children and The Settlement Club. It is her belief that “so many talented young people in the world just need a little financial boost and the Headliners Foundation does a great service for the college community in this regard.”

Bob and Bettye Hammond spent 30 years in the marine industry. In 1956, they co-founded Glastron Boat Company, which became the largest fiberglass boat manufacturer during Bob’s tenure. Active in many Austin civic organizations over the years, the Hammonds currently support the Headliners Foundation and Mount Vernon, the estate of the nation’s first President, George Washington. The Hammonds believe that the Headliners Foundation’s mission to promote excellence in journalism represents the liberties exemplified by the founding fathers.
